Subject: Monday: Success at long last!!!!!
The thing I've worried about for the last week and a half or so has been accomplished. This was the biggest project, with the exception of those programs I did for my compiler course. I've never been more worried about a computer program in all my life. I've never had more faith that I would come through too.
The task, of course was to repartition my PI's hard drive and put Linus on there. I got the repartitioning done with ease this morning. I used this neat program called Partition Magic. It eleminated all the hassel and head aches that all those other programs caused me.
I managed to start installing linux before the morning was out. There was a minor problem. I couldn't get the cd to read. I thought about it over lunch, tried a few things and then finally realized what was wrong. The cd wasn't fully loaded. I put it in wrong. Worked like a charm after that.
I was able to successfully install Linux, boot Linux, and then reboot Windows 95. It appears that no data has been lost. All has gone well.
This project is a major confidence builder. If I can do this with little or no experience, I can do any thing. I'm rejoicing tonight. A big load has been lifted off of my shoulders.
OTHER STUFF:
That's pretty much what I did today. We did have an organizational meeting last night. We've got to start working more. Right now, we've got a lot of energy. I just hope what tends to happened with HSA doesn't happen with us. We're working on our group project in full force now. May be come up with some thing soon.
Since we are going to try to put in more of an effort, these e-mails will probably become less frequent and more random. Sorry about that. I've gotten many of your responses and e-mails. I've tried to respond to the more communication-important ones. I wish I could respond to all of them, but I just dn't have time. None the less, I do enjoy getting them. Sorry about the long series of messages. Read them if and when you wish. Now we're current. I might have a few other announcements to make this week to be watching for more e-mails from the Don. Talk to ya later.
